Several streetcar windows were broken during riots at the Mattenhof streetcar stop in Zurich on Saturday evening. It was initially unclear whether there were any injuries.

There had been an operation, a spokeswoman for the city police confirmed several media reports on Sunday. She promised further information.

A local resident told TeleZüri that GC fans were on the streetcar. FCZ supporters had wanted to get on. Stones were thrown. The two clubs meet on Sunday afternoon.

A week ago, there were riots after the FCZ match against Basel. The south curve will therefore remain closed at the next FCZ home game.

Club president Ancillo Canepa condemned the violence to the "SonntagsZeitung", but at the same time criticized the ban on the south curve. This would punish many innocent fans.
