According to a survey, Germans want to vote sooner rather than later following the collapse of the traffic light coalition. In a survey conducted by Infratest-Dimap for ARD on Thursday, 65% were in favor of a new Bundestag election as soon as possible. A date in March - as targeted by Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) - is considered the better solution by only 33%.

If the Bundestag were to be re-elected now, the CDU/CSU could expect 34% of the vote. The AfD would receive 18% and the SPD 16%. The Greens would receive 12% and the BSW 6%. The FDP would have to worry about re-entering the Bundestag with a 5% share of the vote.

According to the survey, 59% of German citizens welcome the end of the traffic light system. 40 percent blame the FDP for the failure. 26% blame the Greens, while only 19% blame the SPD.
