Public prosecutor files charges for murder of cab driver in Basel

The Basel-Stadt public prosecutor's office is bringing murder charges against a 53-year-old man. He is accused of killing a 49-year-old cab driver on November 18, 2022. The accused is currently serving an early sentence and must answer to the criminal court, as the public prosecutor's office announced on Thursday.
The Swiss national has also been charged with attempted robbery and multiple thefts.
Following the homicide on Peter Merian-Strasse in Basel in November 2022, the criminal investigation department of the public prosecutor's office set up a special commission. Following an intensive investigation, this team was able to identify and arrest the alleged perpetrator, as detailed in the press release. He is presumed innocent.
