"Our presentation cannot replace reading our report": Councillor of States Isabelle Chassot, President of the CS-PUK, said to the media in Bern on Friday. The cross-office and cross-departmental subject matter of the investigation was a challenge for the investigation.
It was therefore necessary to focus on developments that were decisive for the crisis in March 2023. The PUK dealt with the work of the authorities in connection with the emergency rescue of Credit Suisse and its forced merger with UBS.
In order for the PUK to complete its work in 18 months, it had to hold a meeting practically every week, said Chassot. This was also the case during the sessions.
Information security was also a challenge, said Chassor, pointing out the PUK's duty of confidentiality. Two criminal charges had been brought due to leaks. And: "Not everything that appeared in the newspapers were leaks," said Chassot. Some of them were also attempts to control the narrative.
All parliamentary groups were represented in the PUK. Minorities could not be ruled out at the beginning of the work, said Chassot. In the end, however, the commission adopted its report unanimously.
The PUK published its report on the CS crisis and the emergency merger of CS with UBS on Friday. With the exception of Andrea Caroni (FDP/AR), President of the Council of States, all members of the PUK were present at the media conference, for institutional reasons.
