Rapperswil-Jona Supports the City Tunnel

The citizens of Rapperswil-Jona SG voted in favour of a city tunnel on Sunday, with 59.5% of the vote. The tunnel will cost an estimated one billion Swiss francs and will run from Seedamm to the A15 motorway, with two connections underneath the city. The tunnel is expected to take seven to eight years to build and will be funded by the canton of St. Gallen. This is not the first time that measures to reduce traffic in the second largest city in St. Gallen have been discussed, but twelve years ago a tunnel option was rejected by the voters.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
