With the new organization under the umbrella of Ringier Media Switzerland (RMS), around 75 jobs are to be cut. A consultation process has been initiated. Social plans are to be implemented for those affected.
The announced integration of the Blick Group, Rasch, Ringier Advertising and Ringier Mediatech & Services under the new umbrella of RMS will bring changes, Ringier announced on Tuesday.
The aim is to become the most innovative and leading media house in Switzerland thanks to more than 20 established titles, a broad range of topics, a wide reach and concentrated expertise in all areas.
The focus of an analysis of the existing structures was on economic efficiency, the reduction of duplicate structures and overlaps, but also on the development of a modern organization.
Editorial offices less affected
In order to achieve the five percent reduction in total costs, it is essential to cut jobs in addition to not filling vacancies and reducing material costs.
The planned job cuts will affect service areas such as user market support, marketing and mediatech more than the editorial offices and Ringier Advertising.
According to the press release, the adjustments were developed in 12 working groups. Around 30 employees, the RMS management and an external consultancy firm were represented in these groups.
The employees and staff committees were informed on Tuesday. The consultation process will last until January 19. The results will be announced at the end of January. The new structure is to be implemented from February.
