Rita Famos is the new chairwoman of the Council of Religions

The Swiss Council of Religions has elected Pastor Rita Famos as Chairperson. The term of office is for two years, the Council announced on Tuesday. Famos is President of the Swiss Protestant Reformed Church.
Önder Günes, President of the Federation of Islamic Umbrella Organizations in Switzerland (Fids), was elected as Deputy Chairman.
The two succeed Bishop Felix Gmür (President of the Swiss Bishops' Conference SBC) and Ralph Lewin (former President of the Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities SIG).
The Council of Religions is made up of leading figures from the three Christian national churches, the Jewish community, the Christian Orthodox community and Islamic organizations.
