The members of the Swiss Association for Mountain Regions (SAB) appointed new members to the presidency and board in Sissach BL on Thursday. The new President is National Councillor Pius Kaufmann (center/LU). He succeeds his Council colleague Christine Bulliard-Marbach (center/FR).
The Assembly elected National Councillor Christine Badertscher (Greens/BE) as the new Vice-President, as announced by the SAB. National Councillor Martin Candinas (center/GR) was confirmed as Vice President for a further four years.
Bulliard-Marbach stepped down after eight years. Her successor, Kaufmann, was already a member of the Mountain Regions Council as the mayor of Escholzmatt-Marbach and a member of the Lucerne Grand Council. The other changes to the Board are partly due to the term limits introduced in 2023. The second Vice President, Neuchâtel cantonal councillor Laurent Favre (FDP), resigned as a result.
