In the first half of 2023, healthcare costs in Switzerland rose by almost 7.9%. This was a significant increase compared to the previous year, with the cost per insured person rising by 6.4%. The cantons of Uri and Bern saw the highest increases at 13.3% and 10.5% respectively. The cost of medication, hospital and doctor treatments, Spitex and nursing homes are all contributing to the rise in costs. The cost of physiotherapy rose by 10.2%, while the cost of psychotherapy delegated by doctors rose by 38%. The Swiss health insurance association Santésuisse predicts that this will lead to significant increases in premiums, although the exact amount is yet to be determined. The definitive amount of health insurance premiums for 2024 will be announced by the Federal Office of Public Health in September, with the outgoing Federal President and Head of the Federal Department of the Interior, Alain Berset, making the announcement for the last time.nnnnnnnnnn
