SBB and the federal government will cover the additional costs of adapting the Lausanne station construction site project. According to the new timetable for the expansion and modernization work, these are estimated at around CHF 250 million.

The total investment for the project currently amounts to CHF 1.7 billion, including inflation. This was announced by the federal government, SBB, the canton of Vaud and the city of Lausanne in a joint press release on Thursday.

According to the current financial agreements, the additional costs should have been divided between the various project partners: The federal government, SBB Real Estate, the canton of Vaud and the city of Lausanne. "However, in accordance with the agreement, the Federal Office of Transport (FOT) has decided to exceptionally assume the amounts of CHF 15.4 million from the Canton of Vaud and the City of Lausanne," the communiqué states.
