Together with its social partners, SBB is launching a campaign for greater respect and safety. From next week, posters and screens in stations and on trains will be used to send out a message to prevent assaults on public transport.

The "Respectfully on the move together" campaign advocates respectful treatment of travelers and employees. On average, ten verbal or physical attacks are made on SBB staff every day, some of which have become more serious in recent years.

This was announced by the transport company on Monday. These were insults, threats, verbal abuse or assault.

The feeling of safety is at a high level and remains strong. Passengers still feel safer on trains and in stations than in other public spaces. But awareness needs to be raised, according to SBB.

Since summer 2024, part of the security training for SBB staff has been taking place at the new security training center in Murten FR. In practical training modules, employees will receive recommendations for dealing with critical situations. The aim is to react calmly and professionally in the event of aggression and to reassure passengers. Employees should not endanger themselves in the process.

The transport police have also been using bodycams throughout Switzerland since September. These are intended to de-escalate conflicts. The transport police work closely with local police forces and are supported by additional security services. SBB customer escorts also travel in pairs on all long-distance trains from 10 p.m. onwards.

SBB is conducting the campaign together with the Swiss Transport Workers' Union (SEV), the Transfair staff association and the Association of Swiss Locomotive Drivers and Candidates (VSLF).
