Contrary to initial information from SBB, the major IT disruption on Tuesday morning did have consequences for rail traffic. In Ticino, the railroads had to restart regional services after a standstill. Trains between Bern and Olten SO were diverted from the new line to the main line.

Shortly before midday, SBB expected delays of up to 60 minutes. On Tuesday morning, work on telecommunications software had reportedly "severely restricted" SBB's customer information. Safety-relevant systems were not affected. Specialists were working flat out to rectify the fault.

SBB has been struggling with major IT disruptions since around 10 am. According to customers, it was no longer possible to buy tickets. Display boards at stations were down. The information portal with disruption reports and the operating situation was unavailable. The online timetable was also down. It was not possible to search for connections on the SBB website.
