Seriously injured after explosion and fire in Dorf ZH

A man has been seriously injured following an explosion in a house in Dorf ZH. According to the Zurich cantonal police, the 29-year-old suffered serious burn injuries. The apartment building was engulfed in flames after the explosion.
In addition to the injured person, 12 residents had to be evacuated, as the cantonal police announced on Wednesday. The explosion occurred early Wednesday morning at around 2 am. A large part of the attic was blown away.
The cause of the explosion is not yet known. The fire department quickly brought the fire under control, but the house is no longer habitable, according to the press release. Debris also damaged other houses and cars. Initial estimates put the damage at several hundred thousand francs.
