Seriously injured in collision between car and truck in Oberwil BE

An accident occurred between a truck and a touring car in Oberwil im Simmental in the Bernese Oberland on Wednesday afternoon. The truck driver was seriously injured. A Rega helicopter flew him to hospital. 17 other people sustained minor injuries.
The accident occurred at around 3.15 p.m. on the cantonal road between Därstetten and Oberwil im Simmental, as the cantonal police reported in the evening. According to initial findings, the coach coming from Zweisimmen crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with the truck. The exact circumstances of the collision were unclear in the evening.
Several ambulance teams attended to the 17 people with minor injuries. Around 40 uninjured occupants of the coach were taken to Gesigen BE for onward travel.
The cantonal road remained closed for several hours. A detour was set up. In addition to the police and Swiss Air-Rescue (Rega), several ambulances and the fire departments from Oberwil, Spiez and Boltigen were deployed. The police and the Oberland public prosecutor's office launched an investigation.
