The Vaud-based company Sicpa, which specializes in inks for banknotes, will cut fewer jobs in Switzerland than planned. Instead of 120 jobs, fewer than 90 will ultimately be cut in the canton of Vaud. In addition, just over a hundred jobs will be cut for the rest of the group worldwide.

Sicpa's management announced on Monday that it had found solutions with the staff representatives and with the support of the Unia trade union to limit job cuts in Switzerland. Among other things, this was made possible by general cost-cutting measures and various proposals from employees.

At the end of the consultation process initiated at the beginning of October, the staff representatives in Prilly, Bussigny and Chavornay agreed to the negotiated social plan.

Sicpa is represented in more than 40 countries and employs a total of 3000 people, including 1000 in Switzerland, who work at the headquarters in Prilly and at the industrial site in Chavornay.

The multinational company specializes in inks for banknotes and other security and value documents such as passports and ID cards. According to the company, it suffers from the effects of geopolitical crises because its customers are mainly countries and their governments.

Sicpa had already made savings in 2017 and cut around 150 jobs in Prilly.
