The Signa bankruptcy is now also attracting bargain hunters: they can bid for the prestigious interior design of Rene Benko's power headquarters in Vienna's Palais Harrach at an auction: Over 460 items will go under the hammer in the first three auctions.
Bids will be accepted from January 19, 2024 on aurena.at. The palace is to be vacated by the beginning of March 2024, the auction house Aurena announced in a press release.
Bids can be placed in any price category: those who love luxury can bid on the lavishly finished, leather presidential table with a diameter of 8 meters. The auction house also has a matching designer pendant lamp and designer office chairs made of premium leather.
Toilet brush holder in bronze look
Also on offer are high-quality leather sofas, bar stools and side tables as well as a marble room divider from the salon. If you don't want to invest so much in Benko's decorative items, you can bid on the toilet paper holders and toilet brush holders with a bronze look.
But less glamorous items such as a Signa doormat, Signa clothes hangers or office supplies can also be purchased at auction.
The office furnishings of Signa managers and three e-citybikes will also be auctioned off. Anyone wanting at least a souvenir of the real estate juggler's shattered dreams can bid on elaborately designed project brochures, pictures and 3D building models of the Park Hyatt Vienna and Elbtower.
The properties can be viewed online or on site at appointments by appointment. Bidding is open immediately, with the knockdowns taking place on January 19 and February 2 respectively.
Three Omega watches found in Zurich
But it is not only the interior of Palais Harrach that is being sold off: There are also a few special features in Signa Holding's fund, which are now also to be turned into cash, as the edict file reveals.
In Zurich, the restructuring administrator has found three Omega Seamaster Diver watches worth almost 17,500 euros, which will be put up for sale. The estate of Austrian actress Hedy Lamarr, after whom the planned luxury department store on Vienna's Mariahilferstrasse was to be named, is also going under the hammer. The value of the estate is estimated at 15,000 euros.
The fixed and current assets of Signa Holding in Vienna's Palais Ferstl as well as the Innsbruck headquarters and its furnishings will also be sold at auction, either as a complete package or in partial packages.
Benko's villa may still be there
With a little patience, there may be further opportunities to buy cheaply or at auction in the near future. After all, the tax office has registered a lien on Benko's villa due to unpaid VAT. And the property and its furnishings are quite something, as the "Kronen Zeitung" reported on Friday.
The villa with 4427 square meters of usable building space, around 785 square meters of terraces and a pool measuring almost 100 square meters cost around 60 million euros - including the demolition of the old castle hotel. The villa has a home cinema, a panic room and an underground garage with around a dozen parking spaces.
If the property and inventory are auctioned off, 28 "Samsung The Wall Luxury IW=R (P0.84) Indoor" LED panels from the home cinema will go under the hammer. The purchase price was 270,000 euros. Experts currently estimate the value of the property at 86.6 million euros, reported the "Kronen Zeitung".
