The SP welcomes the conclusion of the negotiations with the EU. The Federal Council now has a duty to present a balanced overall package that safeguards wage protection, strengthens public services and creates legal certainty in these areas.
"Good relations with Europe are of central importance for the population, the economy, education and research," reads a press release issued by the SP Switzerland on Friday. Even after the Federal Council's announcements, much remains unclear because only the basic parameters of the negotiated agreement are known. A final assessment can only be made once the overall domestic and foreign policy package is available.
There is concern about statements made by the Federal Council on Friday, according to which no solutions have yet been found to secure wage protection and public services (railroads, electricity). The Federal Council must now quickly create full transparency and assume leadership responsibility in these two areas in particular. It has a duty to keep its promise to secure wage protection so as not to jeopardize the further development of relations with the EU. The SP is calling on business and employers' associations to "abandon their blockade stance and work with the trade unions on a viable solution".
