On Wednesday, the St. Gallen cantonal court confirmed a ruling by the lower court. In 2022, the District Court of Wil sentenced a young woman to four years' imprisonment for a car accident in which three people died. The woman wanted a lighter sentence.

The fatal accident happened in April 2022. The woman, now aged 22, had got behind the wheel of a car while drunk and was speeding through Niederuzwil SG at 160 km/h with three men in the back seat and a female passenger when the car left the road.

All three men died in the accident and the female passenger was seriously injured. In June 2023, the District Court of Wil sentenced the driver to four years' imprisonment for negligent homicide and negligent grievous bodily harm, among other things. The cantonal court has now confirmed this decision.
