Start-ups on course for a record in 2024 thanks to the crypto sector

The Swiss startup sector is on course for record growth this year. According to the industry association Startups.ch, growth is being driven primarily by the boom in the crypto sector.
This means that the Swiss startup scene is heading for a record high number of new companies in 2024, according to a press release issued on Friday. Specifically, the number of new companies entered in the commercial register is likely to rise to around 52,800 for the first time.
This would be an increase of around 2% compared to the previous year. French-speaking Switzerland stands out with forecast growth of 5.4%. The canton of Zurich is expected to report an increase of around 1.5%. In Northwestern Switzerland, however, the number of new registrations is stagnating, according to reports.
