Storm Frederico picks up speed with gale-force winds

The expected storm picked up speed on Thursday evening and made itself felt with the first gale-force gusts. A wind speed of 137 kilometers per hour was measured on the Säntis in eastern Switzerland. In the night to Friday, storm depression Frederico will bring widespread gale-force winds and gale-force gusts.
Wind speeds of over 120 kilometers per hour were also measured in Les Diablerets VD, on the Chasseral BE, the Grosser St. Bernhard VS and on the Pilatus near Lucerne on Thursday evening.
Various railroad lines were interrupted due to strong winds, such as the one between Bern and Solothurn and the one from Zurich main station to the Uetliberg.
