"The state is becoming ever more voracious", outgoing SVP President Marco Chiesa told the delegates at their meeting on Saturday. If the state becomes more and more expensive, citizens will have less and less money in their pockets.
According to Chiesa, the state is becoming more and more expensive because "the wrong policies are being pursued". The other parties were squandering billions of francs "on the asylum chaos", development aid or "stupid gender projects", Chiesa explained.
And then the other parties also wanted an EU treaty under which Switzerland would pay a contribution to Brussels. "We must not sign a submission treaty with the EU," emphasized Chiesa.
The state is deciding to spend more and more. New debt means higher taxes. The SVP will not support this. "We want people in this country to have more money to live on - not the money wasters in federal Bern," said Chiesa.
