A Swiss Airbus has made an emergency landing in Graz due to engine problems and smoke in the cockpit and cabin. Following the incident, several crew members and passengers sought medical treatment, the Lufthansa subsidiary announced. One crew member was flown by helicopter to a clinic. The aircraft with 74 passengers and five crew members was on its way from Bucharest to Zurich.
Concern for crew member despite safe landing
"The plane has landed safely. All passengers have been evacuated from the aircraft," the statement continued. Ten passengers had sought medical attention. "We are concerned about the condition of one cabin crew member, who was taken by helicopter to hospital in Graz and whose condition is currently unclear," Swiss added. The other four crew members have also sought medical attention.
Aircraft still on the runway
The airline is working at full speed to provide both passengers and crew members with the best possible care and support. "Our top priority is to provide the best possible support to all those affected." The aircraft is currently still on the runway and Graz Airport is closed. The jet is an Airbus A220-300.
