The Swiss Bishops have condemned the radical Islamic Hamas attack on Israel and called for prayer for peace in the Holy Land. They expressed their deep concern over the "unheard of brutality" of the attacks and condemned any form of violence, particularly against innocent civilians. They expressed their thoughts and prayers to the families of those who have lost their lives. The Bishops are worried about the escalating violence in the Middle East and the images of the attack and the information regarding the hostages, including many children with their mothers, who have been taken to Gaza. They have called on the responsible parties to immediately release the hostages. They have also called on all believers and people of good will to pray for a ceasefire and for respectful and just peace negotiations to be initiated. The Holy Land desperately needs peace based on justice, dialogue and the courage of brotherhood.
