Sales figures on the Swiss car market remained at the previous year's level in July. Compared to the same month last year, 18,430 fewer new cars were registered in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein.

This corresponds to a small drop of 0.9%, as reported by the Swiss Automobile Import Association on Monday. For the current year to the end of July, the decline thus amounts to 1.9% or around 2,700 fewer registrations than in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, cars with a hybrid drive are becoming increasingly popular. According to Auto Schweiz, full and mild hybrids have "replaced the petrol engine as the leading motorization." Meanwhile, purely electric cars have lost market share compared to the previous year.
