Swiss will be flying to Tel Aviv from Zurich again from Friday. This is in line with the announcement made last week by the parent company Lufthansa together with the Austrian AUA. Flights to Lebanon's capital Beirut will remain suspended until the end of April.
The main reason for the decision to fly to Israel again was that the current situation is much clearer than it was a week ago, according to a statement issued by Swiss on Wednesday.
The company is continuing to monitor developments very closely and is in close contact with the relevant authorities in Switzerland and locally. Swiss will react immediately to any changes in the situation if necessary. Swiss will also continue not to use Iranian airspace up to and including April 30.
Iran attacked Israel with hundreds of drones and missiles on the weekend of April 13 and 14 in retaliation for a suspected Israeli attack on the Iranian embassy compound in Damascus, Syria. Commanders of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards had been killed there. As a result, Lufthansa, Swiss and AUA suspended their flights to Israel on April 19.
