No Swiss flights to Beirut up to and including April 30. This was decided by the airline on Wednesday. The airline will not use Iranian airspace until this date and will "closely" monitor the situation in the region, as it announced.

The Lebanese capital is therefore in exactly the opposite situation to the Israeli metropolis of Tel Aviv. On Tuesday, Swiss announced that it would be resuming its flights there with immediate effect.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday reaffirmed his country's right to protect itself after the international community tried to prevent a massive Israeli counter-strike against Iran that could drag the Middle East into a spiral of conflict.

For its part, Iran had soldiers, missiles and drones deployed for Armed Forces Day and reiterated that the country would respond "fiercely" to any counter-attack by its enemy. Earlier this weekend, however, the Islamic Republic launched an unprecedented air attack on Israeli territory.
