Swiss Government Urged to Increase Support for Armenian Community

On Friday, delegates of the Armenian community in Switzerland met with Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis. They welcomed the humanitarian aid guaranteed by Switzerland, but called for a clear condemnation of Azerbaijan's attack on the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The Armenian delegation welcomed in a statement on Monday the assurance of humanitarian aid for the refugees in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, they called on Switzerland to label Azerbaijan's attack as a "crime against humanity" and to condemn the state for the subsequent "ethnic cleansing" that followed. The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (EDA) reminded of its priorities: ceasefire, humanitarian access to Nagorno-Karabakh and return to the negotiating table. ©Keystone/SDA
