Swiss hotels accommodate slightly more guests in July

Slightly more guests checked into Swiss hotels in July 2024 than in the same month last year. In the peak summer month, 0.2% more overnight stays were recorded than a year ago, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) on Friday based on an initial estimate.
The hotel industry thus remains on course to beat last year's record of 41.8 million overnight stays for the year as a whole. In the first half of the year, the number of overnight stays had already reached 20.1 million. This was 2.4 percent more than in the same period last year.
In the first month of the summer holidays, the hotel industry once again benefited from the recovery in foreign guests. The year-on-year increase here amounted to 3.3 percent. In contrast, the Swiss traveled abroad more than a year ago. In July, hotels recorded 3.4 percent fewer overnight stays by domestic guests than a year ago.
The final and absolute figures for overnight stays in July will be published on September 5.
