Swiss hotels with more overnight stays again in May

Swiss hotels welcomed more guests in May 2024 despite the bad weather. The number of overnight stays increased by almost 5 percent in the merry month.
In May, hotel overnight stays rose by 4.9% compared to the same month last year, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) on Monday according to an initial estimate. Following a slight setback in April, the industry has thus returned to the road to success. The first three months of the year had already shown monthly growth compared to the record year of 2023.
Foreign guests particularly strong
The increase in May is once again due to guests from abroad. Here, the number of overnight stays rose by 7.8 percent. However, there was also an increase in Swiss guests. However, at +1.7 percent, this was significantly lower.
The definitive and absolute figures for overnight stays in May will be published by the FSO on July 5.
