Prose, spoken word, essays and poetry by Swiss authors and writers who live in Switzerland: The Keystone-SDA news agency has selected new works that will provide food for thought in January.

"Sina - Becoming true to yourself". Biography. Geparden Verlag, 248 pages. (Published on January 10)

Sina, the Swiss dialect singer from Valais, frequently collaborates with authors such as Sibylle Berg, Jürg Halter and Simone Meier for the lyrics of her songs. And with musicians such as Büne Huber, Adrian Stern and Erika Stucky. They all talk about their work together and give an insight into the Swiss music scene. Sina herself also talks about her life. She has also contributed photos and other documents from her archive. The result is a book about Sina, who has been on stage for decades and is considered one of the most successful musicians in Switzerland.

Daniel de Roulet: "The red cap". Novel. Limmat Verlag, 168 pages. (Published on January 24)

Daniel de Roulet places the nineteen-year-old Geneva carpenter Samuel Buchaye and six of his fellow sufferers at the center of "Le bonnet rouge" (2023). The novel, which is based on historical models, is now being published in German under the title "Die rote Mütze". The Geneva-based author came across the men in his own family history. One of his ancestors was the owner of a mercenary regiment; he had an uprising by his mercenaries bloodily crushed. The mercenaries had resisted the fact that their pay had not been paid. De Roulet does not give the word to the manslayer, but to the maltreated.

Peter Stamm: "A fantasy of time". Poetry lecture. S. Fischer Verlag, 128 pages. (Published on January 24)

A year ago, Peter Stamm published his latest novel "In einer dunkelblauen Stunde"; around the same time, the documentary film "Wechselspiel: wenn Peter Stamm schreibt" was presented at the Solothurn Film Festival. And now Stamm's own perspective follows with his Zurich poetry lecture in book form. In it, he asks how his own writing changes when he is accompanied in his work by two documentary filmmakers. Or he sheds light on the constellation of how he wrote about a writer in this situation, about whom a documentary film is to be made.

Alex Capus: "Das kleine Haus am Sonnenhang". Carl Hanser Verlag, 160 pages. (Published on January 29)

Alex Capus now lives in Olten, but in "Das kleine Haus am Sonnenhang" he takes his readers back to Italy in the 1990s, when people still smoked in pubs and petrol stations were still serviced. He spends time with his girlfriend and friends in the eponymous house, writes his first novel and reflects on how to find contentment in life. This slim volume is Capus' personal little philosophy of serenity and quiet happiness, as well as a story about his love of literature.
