Once again, the mobile networks of Swiss providers have received top ratings from the trade magazine "Connect". Swisscom extended its previous top position. However, Sunrise and Salt also improved.
The German trade magazine "Connect" has awarded the three major mobile phone providers in Switzerland the top rating of "outstanding". All of them were able to make further gains compared to the same period last year, as can be seen in the test report published on Wednesday night.
Swisscom came top of the ranking for the sixth time in a row. With 981 out of a possible 1000 points, the "blue giant" was able to further extend its lead over the competition and also achieved the highest score ever awarded by "Connect". In the previous year, Swisscom scored 970 points.
Sunrise also increased its score slightly by 9 points to 968. Sunrise is almost on a par with Swisscom, particularly in the voice discipline and 5G expansion in cities, the report continues. In most other categories, Sunrise was only slightly behind.
Salt achieved 950 points after 945 in the previous year's test. As a result, Salt was also awarded the "outstanding" rating for the first time. Salt particularly impressed the testers with its data and voice ratings. However, there was still room for improvement in the availability of voice telephony on connecting lines.
5G is standard in Switzerland
The "Connect" testers were particularly positive about the level of cell phone coverage on Swiss trains. According to the report, "customers in other countries could only dream of this". 5G technology has also already become the standard in Switzerland.
In cities, Swisscom and Sunrise are almost on a par when it comes to 5G. Outside the centers, however, Swisscom is ahead. Salt has recorded significant growth compared to the previous year.
The "Connect" testers covered around 6300 kilometers in Switzerland for the test. This included journeys by car, train journeys on long-distance routes and also forays on foot in eight cities. According to "Connect", the measurement campaign covered just over a quarter of the Swiss population.
