A twin-engine sports plane from Switzerland crash-landed on the runway at Innsbruck Airport (Austria) on Friday afternoon. Apparently there were problems with the landing gear, which could not be extended properly, a police spokesman confirmed media reports to the Austrian news agency APA. Both the pilot and his co-pilot were uninjured.

The aircraft sustained damage to an initially unknown extent.

The sports plane had "practically landed on its belly and skidded across the runway", explained Klaus Hohenauer from the Tyrolean aviation authority to the online edition of the Tiroler Tageszeitung newspaper. The runway had to be temporarily closed. The consequences for air traffic at Innsbruck Airport were limited: One passenger plane from London had to be diverted to Munich, it said.
