Swisscom expands insurance sales

Swisscom is expanding its range of insurance products: In addition to the existing insurance policies for devices and cyber security, the telecommunications group also intends to sell leisure insurance, household contents and personal liability insurance or rental deposit insurance in future.
To this end, Swisscom is working together with existing insurance groups, the "blue giant" announced to the media in Zurich on Wednesday. These partners are Zurich Insurance Company, Axa and European Travel Insurance ERV. Swisscom itself will therefore not become an insurance company, but only an intermediary.
Swisscom is also opening up its IT: customers will be able to take out insurance via their My Swisscom online account. Payment is made via the Swisscom bill, the statement continued.
Further products are planned by the end of the year, it said. In future, for example, Swisscom will offer legal protection insurance, travel insurance and motor vehicle insurance.
