Swiss households will have to pay less for the services of the national grid operator Swissgrid next year. The costs will fall from CHF 92 this year to CHF 77. However, this corresponds to just 5 percent of the expected electricity costs.
The saving of CHF 15 applies to a household with an annual consumption of 4,500 kWh, as Swissgrid announced on Wednesday. For a company with an annual consumption of 90,000 kWh, the costs are likely to fall by CHF 300.
The tariffs are largely dependent on factors that the grid operator cannot influence, such as price trends on the electricity markets or regulatory projects. According to Swissgrid, it uses them to finance the "secure and stable operation as well as the expansion and modernization of the extra-high-voltage grid".
At the same time, the costs for the federal government's electricity reserves will also fall by CHF 43 per household. The reason for this is the "significantly lower expected costs" for the hydropower reserve, it said.
