Swisstopo uses Nagra borehole in Trüllikon ZH to

The Federal Office of Topography has taken over Nagra's borehole in Trüllikon ZH. In future, the disused deep borehole will be used to inject CO2.
The federal government wants to examine the feasibility of storing CO2, as detailed in a press release issued on Thursday. The pilot project is set to start in 2025 and run until 2030.
The fact that the borehole in Trüllikon in the Zürcher Weinland will be used is not a decision on whether and where CO2 should be injected in Switzerland in the future, the statement continues. Thanks to Nagra's preliminary work, however, detailed knowledge of the geological conditions is available and time and costs can be saved.
For a long time, the Zürcher Weinland was considered the most suitable location for a nuclear waste repository. It was not until 2022 that Nagra decided that the Stadel ZH site in the Zürcher Unterland should be used.
