Switzerland sends 17 special police officers and sniffer dogs to Paris

Switzerland is sending 17 police officers to Paris to support the security forces at the Olympic Games. Seven of them are bomb disposal specialists. Nine are traveling with their explosives detection dogs and one specialist with a protection dog. The deployment is at the request of the French police.

The police officers belong to the cantonal police forces of Bern, Geneva, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Vaud, Zug and Zurich, as announced by the Federal Office of Police (Fedpol) on Friday. It coordinated the operation with the Conference of Cantonal Police Commanders and the Conference of Police and Justice Directors of Latin Switzerland.

According to the information provided, the operation will run for the entire duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games from July 26 to September 8. During the preparatory work for this, the police attaché of the French embassy helped with the cooperation and exchange with the authorities in his country.
