The "Tages-Anzeiger" commented on the "yes" vote on the energy decree as follows:

"The result is not surprising, even in this clarity. The bill was a political compromise. The verdict is a failure for the SVP. (...) Now it must take note: The population is behind the expansion of renewable energies. Because they know that the goal of a climate-neutral Switzerland by 2050 will otherwise remain unattainable. As clear as the victory is, the winners of the referendum - from the FDP to the Greens - now have a duty: they have given assurances that the majority of this expansion will be realized on existing infrastructure and that new solar and wind parks in open areas will protect nature. Now they have to keep their word. (...) It would be naïve to believe that the Electricity Act has solved all the problems. With the expansion of renewable energies, Switzerland will become less dependent on energy imports from abroad and security of supply will be strengthened. However, it remains to be seen how strong the boost for wind, sun and water will be in reality; appeals against expansion projects, for example, remain possible. (...) Rösti in particular is now called upon to act. The proponent of nuclear power must demonstrate the financial, safety and ecological consequences of a possible nuclear renaissance. And all this based on facts, please! The nuclear debate is still charged enough as it is. "
