For the taxation of cross-border commuters working from home in Switzerland, the current rules will continue to apply until the end of 2025. They can telework up to 40 percent of the time.

Bern and Paris have extended the transitional arrangement that has been in place since 2022, the Federal Tax Administration announced on Tuesday. Without this step, it would have expired at the end of 2024.

According to the agreement, Switzerland retains 60 percent of the taxes levied on work carried out in the home office and transfers 40 percent to France.

Bern and Paris had actually already agreed on a supplementary agreement to the Franco-Swiss double taxation agreement in 2023, with which the provisions are to be converted into a definitive agreement. While the National Council and Council of States already approved the supplementary agreement in the summer session, it has yet to be approved by the French parliament.
