The 2026 Federal Music Festival will take place in Biel/Bienne BE. After Interlaken in the Bernese Oberland decided not to host the 35th edition at the end of November for economic reasons, the capital of the Seeland region is now taking on this task.

The event is planned for May 14 to 17, 2026 and will return to Biel exactly 50 years after its first staging.

The intensive efforts of the Swiss Wind Music Association (SBV) to quickly find an alternative venue for Interlaken have borne fruit, the SBV wrote in a press release on Saturday. The president of the organizing committee will be Nadja Günthör, member of the Bernese SVP council.

By Friday, 487 clubs had registered for the 2026 Federal Music Festival. Over 550 clubs with 25,000 musicians and tens of thousands of visitors are expected in Biel in a year and a half.

The Federal Music Festival takes place every five years and is considered the largest brass music festival in the world.
