The 63-Year-Old Woman from Valais Died While Hiking

The body of a 63-year-old woman from the Valais region of Switzerland was found on Thursday evening in the Alpe Jungen area above St. Niklaus VS. The Valais prosecutor's office has launched an investigation. The woman had been reported missing to the Valais cantonal police shortly after 6 pm on Thursday. An Air Zermatt helicopter search that evening led to the discovery of the lifeless body of the missing person in a steep terrain near the Gafine mid-station in the direction of Unnerbächji, according to the police on Friday. The victim was a resident of the Upper Valais. The police have launched a witness appeal in an attempt to clarify the events.
