Despite the rainy weather, many people gathered at the Rütli UR for the 1st August celebration. According to the motto "#Jugendrütli", the young generation was especially welcomed. Two birthdays were celebrated at the federal celebration, said Nicola Forster, president of the Swiss Charitable Society (SGG), which organized the celebration. On the one hand, they traditionally commemorate the old Confederation and its foundation in 1291. On the other hand, they celebrate the birthday of modern Switzerland from September 12, 1848. Swiss Federal Councilor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider speculated in her festive speech about the age of the three Confederates from Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden. Comedian Michael Elsener was also present at the Rütli. He vividly presented on stage how the Federal Council would be composed if it were elected directly by the people. Among the elected were Peach Weber, Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, the artificial intelligence Siri, the popular clay figure Pingu and tennis player Roger Federer. Michael Elsener asked the young people what they would introduce or abolish if they were king or queen of Switzerland. From more serious topics such as free public transport, voting age 16, unconditional basic income, to humorous ideas such as "Ice cream for everyone", everything was there. The weather at the Rütli held up until the end of the official program. Shortly afterwards, a flood-like rain broke out over the meadow of the three Confederates. Within a very short time, all visitors had started their retreat towards the fountain. Despite the rainy weather, many people gathered at the Rütli UR for the 1st August celebration.
