The Swiss Parliament has rejected the proposal for a regulatory brake to ease the burden on companies. The National Council voted 96 to 89 against the proposal, following the recommendation of its State Political Commission (SPK-N). The SPK-N argued that it was not acceptable to have different majority requirements for parliamentary decrees based on their material content. The regulatory brake would have required the Councils to pass laws and international treaties that heavily burden companies with a qualified majority. Both the National Council and the Council of States had requested such a brake in 2018 and 2019, prompting the Federal Council to draft the proposal. However, the Federal Council itself rejected the instrument. In summary, the Swiss Parliament has rejected the proposal for a regulatory brake to ease the burden on companies.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
