The Federal Square in Bern Closed and the Federal House West Evacuated

On Wednesday, the Bundesplatz in Bern and the Bundesgasse were closed to traffic due to an incident. The Bundeshaus West and the Medienzentrum were evacuated. The reason for this is unknown. Police officers searched the area around the buildings in the centre of Bern shortly before noon, as reported by journalists from Keystone-SDA. Shortly afterwards, employees of the federal administration in the Bundeshaus West were evacuated, according to sources from the administration. The media centre opposite the Bundeshaus West was also cleared. Journalists had to leave the building.
