The Selected Members of the National Council in the Canton of Bern

The canton of Bern in Switzerland held elections for the National Council on October 20th, 2019. 24 people were elected to the National Council, including representatives from the major political parties. However, two candidates, Natalie Imboden (Green Party) and Heinz Siegenthaler (Middle Party) were not re-elected.
The Swiss National Council is the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland, and is composed of 200 members. It is responsible for passing laws and exercising control over the government. The members of the National Council are elected every four years by the citizens of the cantons.
In the 2019 elections, the Swiss People's Party (SVP) won the most seats with 65, followed by the Social Democratic Party (SP) with 43, the Free Democratic Party (FDP) with 28, the Green Party with 16, the Christian Democratic People's Party (CVP) with 15, and the Liberal Green Party (GLP) with 9. The remaining seats were won by smaller parties and independent candidates.
The newly elected members of the National Council will take office on January 1st, 2020. They will be responsible for representing the interests of their constituents and helping to shape the future of Switzerland.
