The people of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden have elected a person to the National Council. The successful candidate is a member of the Swiss People's Party, and is a lawyer and former mayor of the municipality of Appenzell. He was elected with a majority of the votes, and will now represent the canton in the National Council.

The National Council is one of the two chambers of the Swiss Federal Assembly, the other being the Council of States. It is composed of 200 members who are elected by the people of the cantons. The National Council is responsible for passing laws and deciding on the budget of the Swiss Confederation.

The successful candidate is a lawyer and former mayor of Appenzell. He has been a member of the Swiss People's Party since 2007, and has served as a member of the Appenzell Ausserrhoden cantonal parliament since 2011. He has also been a member of the Appenzell Ausserrhoden cantonal government since 2015.

The successful candidate will now represent the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in the National Council. He will be responsible for representing the interests of the canton in the Federal Assembly, and for voting on laws and the budget of the Swiss Confederation.
