The popular tourist road over the Susten Pass between Wassen UR and Innertkirchen BE has been closed for safety reasons until at least Monday due to a rockfall. On Saturday, around six to eight cubic meters of rock fell onto the road. The rockfall occurred in the Sustenbrüggli area, about two kilometers below the pass. As a further rock block could fall and rain was forecast, the road was closed. On Monday, the situation will be reassessed and the rock block removed. On the Uri side of the pass, the road is open up to the Sustenbrüggli, and on the Bern side up to the pass. The Susten Pass connects the canton of Uri with the canton of Bern. The pass road is around 45 kilometers long and is usually open from June to October. Construction work will take place at the Sustenbrüggli until autumn.nnnn
