The French-speaking Swiss television station RTS suffered a breakdown on Wednesday evening. The station's two channels went off air. The interruption was beyond the control of RTS, according to a spokesperson.
The glitch occurred from 10.12 p.m., RTS spokesman Marco Ferrara told the Keystone-SDA news agency on Wednesday evening.
Private broadcasters, including Léman Bleu, were also affected by the glitch. The Swiss-German broadcaster SRF and the Italian-speaking Swiss broadcaster RSI were not affected, Ferrara added.
According to the spokesperson, the reason for the outage was a problem with the signal transmission between Geneva and Zurich. A team of telecommunications specialists is working in Zurich to rectify the interruption.
