The Zurich SVP leaves the stage to the top trade unionist

The Zurich SVP is hosting its traditional Albisgüetli conference on Friday evening. As always, the keynote speaker will be former Federal Councillor Christoph Blocher. This year's counter-speech will be given by Pierre-Yves Maillard, member of the Vaud SP Council of States and President of the Swiss Federation of Trade Unions.
The Zurich SVP always invites the incumbent President of the Swiss Confederation to make a counter-speech. However, they are not always willing to appear at the Zurich Schützenhaus - or they don't have time.
The incumbent Federal President Viola Amherd (center) turned down the SVP this year for scheduling reasons. The highest trade unionist, Pierre-Yves Maillard, will now step in. Around 1000 SVP members and numerous guests will be attending this year's Albisgüetli conference. The event is sold out.
