There is a folk festival for the Zurich Böögg in Heiden AR

The burning of the Zurich Böögg in Heiden AR on June 22 is to be celebrated with a public festival. At Sechseläuten in Zurich, the burning of the Böögg had to be abandoned due to strong gusts of wind.
As previously announced, the Böögg burning will now take place on June 22 in Heiden AR on the Streuliwiese. As the organizers announced on Friday, the supporting programme for the event has now also been finalized.
There is to be a simple folk festival with music, singing and entertainment as well as sausage and bread. The government council of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden has invited guests of honor and guild delegations. The Canton of Zurich will be represented by the President of the Government, Natalie Rickli (SVP).
Unlike the traditional Böögg burning on Zurich's Sechseläutenplatz, however, no horses will ride around the fire. As the Central Committee of the Zurich Guilds (ZZZ) previously announced, the venue in Heiden is not suitable for this.
On April 15, the Böögg could not be lit in Zurich - for the first time with the exception of the so-called Corona years. The organizers feared that strong gusts of wind could have led to dangerous flying sparks.
