On Saturday afternoon, between 2000 and 3000 people demonstrated in Lausanne in support of the Palestinian people. The event was organised by students from the University of Lausanne. According to the recently founded organisation "Lausanne-Palestine", 3000 people took part in the demonstration, as one of their representatives told the news agency Keystone-SDA. The police gave the number on request as 1500 to 2000. They gathered on Place de la Riponne in the city centre and then marched to Place de l'Europe. The participants carried Palestinian flags and banners and chanted "Free Palestine". Their demands include "the immediate cessation of Israeli bombardments and the end of the blockade of the Gaza Strip" as well as "the prosecution of all war crimes".
